| Built in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, Bluenose began her career as
full-time fishing schooner on the Grand Banks in 1921. But from the outset
she was designed to race. Under the command of Captain Angus Walters, her
legendary wins over North America's finest vessels for a span of 20 years
earned her a place in history - and a minted image on the Canadian dime.
Bluenose II, launched in Lunenburg in 1963 and built by many of the same
shipwrights, is an exact replica of the original schooner. As Nova
Scotia's sailing ambassador, she is a symbol of pride for her native
province and for all of Canada |
