"A new Decaf from our friends at Semilla, and our first ever Rwandan Decaf; a rare treat for any Decaf Coffee Enjoyer!
This lot is pure Rwandan Red Bourbon, grown across three regions and delivered to four different washing stations. In Rwanda, where most coffee farmers manage small plots of land, one individual producer does not grow enough coffee to sell an exportable amount under their own name. Instead, coffee is collected at regional washing stations. Quality is checked and weighed, and farmers are paid for their delivery. Unique to Baho Coffee is the organization of farmer groups that shared a similar lived experience. Most washing station have organized groups of single & widowed mothers (Ikizere), youth (Urubyiruko), or location based groups named after the hill they grow on.
This builds solidarity and lifts up the hard work of these producers who are traditionally marginalized or left behind. This also gives us direct traceability to location and groups of people that we do not often get when buying from washing stations, as there can be hundreds or thousands of people who bring their coffee cherry there for processing. In this blend are coffees from 2 Ikizere groups, multiple hill location groups, and blends chosen by the washing station managers for their exemplary quality."
