Design Inspiration:

"Outliving the dinosaurs, sea turtles continue to defy the odds of survival. At nesting time, a mature female returns to the very sands where she hatched 20 years before. There, she carefully digs a nest where she will lay around 120 eggs. Repeating this ritual every two weeks over the course of several weeks, she then quietly slips back into the sea until the next season. Left to fend for themselves, the hatchlings dig from the nest to begin their perilous journey. From there, they will spend two decades navigating the vast and dangerous sea before reaching maturity. Though only one in a thousand reach adulthood, those that do live long lives. The sea turtle reminds us that perseverance through life's greatest challenges may, in time, lead us steadily toward the life we are meant to live"

  • The artisans at Amos Pewter are proud to be keepers of time-honoured pewter practices and methods while at the same time offering innovative designs inspired by nature and our beautiful coastal surroundings.

Amos Pewter's artisans carefully ladle hot, free-flowing molten pewter from the melting pot and capture it in a spinning mould formed from a wax sculpture carved in detail to mirror the original hand-drawn design. Once removed from the mould, each piece is carefully hand-finished in a process that ensures excellence in craftsmanship.

Amos Pewter was the first artisan shop in Nova Scotia to become a member of the international Economusee network whose mission is to showcase traditional trades and skills. Amos Pewter is crafted in picturesque Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia.
